The truthful Prophet (saw) said “Every son of Adam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2499; Ibn Maajah, 4251; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi). Here is the story of a companion about whom it would be a grave exaggeration to say that he committed sin, it was just about delaying some matter. Yet he repented with a great repentance. He didn't allow himself to be caught up in a greater trap. May Allah (swt) be pleased with him. I hope that this story will ignite in our hearts the light of Eemaan (faith) and Taqwa (God consciousness) and will propel us to knock the doors of Allah's (swt) mercy again and again when we wrong ourselves. May Allah (swt) guide us the way he guides his righteous slaves upon whom clouds His favor and mercy.
